July 2009 Newsletter

j0233054Our first theme this month is America the Beautiful.  We’ll be celebrating the 4th of July and learning about Native American history.  We’re looking forward to the week of July 6 when our theme will be Children’s Literature and Cooking Projects. Math and Science Week will take place starting July 13.  During the week of July 20, we’re having our Wild West Days with lots of games and playground activities including pony rides. Please have your child wear western clothing to school on July 23 and 24.  We will finish off the month with a week of Music Appreciation and musical entertainment by Nick the Music Man and Kids Imagine Nation Music Show.

j0232144Parents, please let us know if you are planning a vacation this summer and leave the dates at the front desk.  Our program runs more efficiently if we have an accurate head count each day!

Our classroom assistant, Mandi Maling, is celebrating her thirteenth year of working at our school. Mandi is an asset to our school and we feel lucky to have her on our staff.  Thanks for all your hard work, Mandi!

j0232894Celebrating birthdays this month are Nicholas K., Olivia W., Chaden, Jack G., Robert, Kyleigh, Megan, Isaac, Kenna, Emma W., Cody, Brooklyn C., Lauren K., Alaina, Jackie, Lauren M., Taylor, Bennet, and Reed.  Our wonderful assistant, Trish Nye, is also celebrating her birthday.  We hope everyone has a fun day!

j0232726We’d like to welcome our new students and their families.  We look forward to getting to know you!  We always strive to make this an easy transition for you and your family.  Please feel free to pick up a free copy of our brochure, “So Many Goodbyes.” It offers useful suggestions to help make the transition from home to preschool easier on children and parents.

Message to Parents:  It is important to have your child arrive at school by 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. so he/she has time to interact with classmates before the structured activities begin.  This extra time encourages an easier transition for children and helps them start the day with a positive attitude.  Also, pick-up time for our half-day students is 12:30.  Our nappers need the opportunity to settle down for the rest period.   Children will be waiting in the office if you arrive after 12:30.  Thank you!

Our teachers will be taking their annual vacations over the summer months.  Someone from our regular staff or one of our qualified substitutes will cover for them while they are gone.  Your child’s teacher will notify you and your child in advance.

Room 5 was thrilled to receive the very generous gift card from Gail and Charla Kabana.  Ms. Donna and Ms. Julie are looking forward to purchasing some new games and manipulative activities for their class. Thank you to Julie and Damon Barksdale for bringing beach towels and children’s clothing to school.  We always appreciate having extras around.  The toy containers from Michelle and Brian Bennett will come in handy.  Thank you, Michelle and Brian!

It’s not too late to sign up for the fresh vegetable and fruit delivery from Tanaka Farms.  Please see Julie at the front desk for more information!
