Patti's Preschool Newsletter, January 2017
Our January theme is Health, Safety, and Nutrition. We will focus on school rules, nutritious foods, and ways to stay healthy. Lesson plans will include cooking projects, safety sign pictures, and nutritious food collages. We will also learn about the winter season so watch for some fun winter projects to come home!
Book orders are due Friday morning, January 13. Please make your check payable to Patti’s Preschool. We also accept credit cards and cash. If you’d like to order online, find out how from Amy or Caroline! Our school receives free books with each parent order so thank you for participating.
Celebrating birthdays this month are Kai, Marley, Olivia, Regan, Melanie, Emma C., Sofia, Valentina, Carter, Enzo, Landon, Nicholas, Jason, Clara B. Carson, and Harper.
Three of our incredible staff members, Celeste Plummer, Allison Young and Catherine Garay are also celebrating their birthdays. Happy birthday to all our friends!
Your tuition statement for the 2016 school year will be sent home the week of January 23th. Please save this form for your income taxes.
We are happy to announce that we have hired 2 new staff members, Alexia Genova and Catherine Garay. Alexia is going to be giving breaks and teaching an afternoon class. Catherine will be substituting when teachers need a day off. Both teachers have preschool experience and have completed the required Early Childhood Education classes. Welcome to Patti’s, Alexia and Catherine!
We will be closed on Monday, January 16, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Ms. Aisling has accepted an afternoon position through her church ministry. She will continue to teach her class in the mornings and Ms. Susan will take over the class in the afternoons (2:00 to 4:30pm). Ms. Susan has been on our staff since May, 2016, and knows all the children in Room 1. This change will be effective January 3, 2017.
The Toy drive for CHOC Hospital was very successful! We collected over 150 toys for the children in the hospital! Ms. Faith was so excited to drop off the toys to the kids at the hospital.
We would like to thank all the parents who brought in items for special classroom projects in December. The children had so much fun celebrating the holidays with their classmates. Thank you to the Johnson Family for their generous donation of craft supplies. Jenny Sullivan also donated some fun crafts that the kids really enjoyed and some games. The Nickols Family brought in pots and pans for our dramatic play area and some toys for Room 1. The dollhouse and Leap frog games from Lani Jackson are being put to good use. Thank you everyone!
Our staff was spoiled by all the treats provided by thoughtful parents before the holiday break. Our break room was filled with cookies, candy, coffee, and a catered lunch. Thank you to the Hills, Liaws, Nicolas/ LeNoirs, and Nickols!
Parent/teacher conferences for Aisling’s class will be held during the week of February 13. Conferences for Allison’s class will take place starting on February 21. Gianna will meet with her children’s parents during the week of February 27. Conferences for all classes will continue through the last week in April. Our annual calendar (which can be accessed online on our web site) lists all of the conference dates. We will send home your child’s evaluation prior to the conference date. If you have any questions regarding the information you may sign up for a conference in person or over the phone. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the classrooms. Conferences are optional, not mandatory.
