Patti's Preschool Newsletter, November 2017

Our November theme is All About Families. Our lesson plans will include finger plays, songs, books, and flannel board stories about families. The children will be making family trees, special family books, and family graphs. Thanksgiving is also part of our November theme so watch for some fun Thanksgiving Day projects.

Scholastic book orders are due on Friday morning, November 10. Ordering online is easy using our class code: GW3RF – just ask Amy or Caroline at the front desk. Please make your check payable to Patti’s Preschool. We receive free books for the school with every parent order placed. Thanks for ordering!

We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving feast on Monday, November 20. We are asking parents to send a dessert or paper products (plates, napkins) for the feast. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the classrooms.

Celebrating birthdays this month are, Delani, Benjamin H., Betty, Jeri, Keaghan, Kennedy, Cate, Georgia, Katelyn, Deena, Isabelle, Samantha, and Devin. Our afternoon teacher, Cynthia, is also celebrating her birthday this month. Happy birthday everyone!

Our playground attendant and afternoon teacher, Ms. Darcy, is celebrating her 2 year anniversary at Patti’s Preschool. Please let Ms. Darcy know you appreciate her hard work!

The top seller for the Popcorn Fundraiser was Ella Dorman! Way to go, Ella! The other two top sellers were Delani Marston and Blake Lehman. Our fundraiser was very successful. The school made a profit of $2500 this year! We’ll be using the funds to pay for our educational guests. Thank you to everyone who participated!

We are grateful for all our super parents who donated items and helped at our Halloween party. You made it fun for everyone!

We will be closed November 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving. Please let Caroline or Amy know if your child will be absent during Thanksgiving week. We would like to know by November 13.

We were delighted with the wonderful response to our READ FOR THE RECORD campaign to promote early literacy. We’d like to thank our terrific readers – Stephanie Vail, Denise Nathie, Nicole Schmidt, Erin Moreno, Vanessa Benson, Jayme Landrau, Betty Yang, Teresa Comins, & Yesenia Magana. Our volunteers read to 92 children!

Next month we’re having free vision screenings provided by the Elks Preschool Vision Screening Program. Release forms will be sent home for parents to complete. Please return the forms to the front office if you’d like your child to participate.

Our students love the climbing structure that the Glass Family donated not to mention it’s a great addition to our playground! We would like to thank Megan Hauge for her generous donation of books for the classrooms. Many thanks to Kristi Andrade for the donation of iPods to use in our classrooms. We always appreciate these thoughtful donations.

We are excited to announce the upcoming installation of our new security system which will protect our main entrance by keeping our front doors locked at all times. A keypad will be installed at the front and parents will be issued a code to enter the building. Our front desk will be equipped with an intercom system and monitor along with a door release button. We hope to have this in place by the end of November.
