Patti's Preschool Newsletter, August 2023
We’re starting off the month with Western Week. We’re looking forward to our Wild West Day on Tuesday, August 1, with activities on the playground along with pony rides. We’ll be learning all about dinosaurs the following week. Mad Science will present a dinosaur workshop on August 8. Ventriloquist (and very funny guy) Marc Griffiths will entertain us on August 10. During the week of August 14 our theme is Under the Sea. Our staff will provide engaging activities about the ocean and sea life. We’re looking forward to a visit from The Blue Submarine on August 17 when we will get to see live tidepool animals and specimans. Our special guest during Tropical Week will be Princess Moana. We’ll end the month with lots of fun outdoor activities like water play, bubbles on the playground, and a toy car wash! Our final summer guest will be Brettso the Great, a professional magician, who is sure to astound and delight our students. Brettso will magically appear on Monday, August 28!
We can’t wait for Hawaiian Day on Wednesday, August 23. We’ll be filled with the Aloha spirit when the Kona Shaved Ice truck parks in front of our school. Be sure to send your child wearing tropical clothing that day!
The last day of our summer session is Thursday, August 31. We will be closed on Friday, September 1 for Teacher Prep Day in order to get ready for our fall session which begins on Tuesday, September 5. Your child may be moving to a new class that day. (We will be closed on Monday, September 4, for Labor Day.) Class assignments will be posted in front of the school on Monday, August 21.
Our teachers enjoyed choosing new items for their classrooms from the toy donations that the Rutkowskis and Sullivans brought to school. We’d also like to thank Lacey and Aamir Raza for their generous donation of glue sticks. We go through a lot of them at school so they were greatly appreciated!
Celebrating birthdays this month are Nash, Sofia Ra., Emery, Leo, Chloe, Dylan, Beckham, and August P. Happy birthday to our friends!
PATTI RECOMMENDS
I was recently gifted (thank you, Carrie Lines!) a parenting book, "Good Inside" by Dr. Becky Kennedy. I’ve been following Dr. Becky on Instagram and appreciate her meaningful advice about helping children achieve emotional regulation and resilience. If you are looking for an effective approach to use with your children, her new book is one you’ll want to add to your library!
