Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some of our most asked questions. You will also find this information in your Parent Handbook. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, don’t be afraid to ask!
How can I arrange a tour of your facilities?
Please call our school to set up an appointment for a tour. We schedule tours between 9:45 and 11:15 a.m., Monday through Friday, so you can see the morning program in action. Tours normally take about 20 minutes so we can show you all the classrooms as well as the playground. Also, you are welcome to bring your child.
What is the age of children you accept?
We are licensed to accept children between the ages of 2 and 6 years. Your child must be fully potty-trained to attend our program.
What does “fully potty-trained” mean?
Your child must be able to tell the teacher if she has to use the restroom. Your child must be able to pull pants up and down and wipe herself. The teacher will be supervising and encouraging her to handle the bathroom routine independently. Elastic waistbands are appropriate as they are easier for children when using the restroom.
What is your teacher to child ratio?
Our ratio varies by class but is never more than 1 teacher to 12 children.
How do you determine which child will be in which classroom?
Classrooms are divided into age groupings with a 3-month age difference.
How much is registration and is it refundable?
Annual registration is $150 per child and is non-refundable.
What are the daily hours for the program?
We are open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our half-day program hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
What are the different schedules you offer?
Children may attend 5 full days (M-F), 3 full days (MWF), or 2 full days (T/Th). A full day is considered any time between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. We also offer 5 half days (M-F), 3 half days (MWF), or 2 half days (T/Th). Our half-day hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
What meals do you provide?
We offer breakfast (served at 7:30 a.m.), a morning and afternoon snack (served at 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.), and a hot lunch (served at 12:00 p.m.). There are no extra charges for snacks. These are included in your tuition fee. There is a $4.50 charge per hot lunch. Parents can opt out of the hot lunch program and send lunch from home. There is a $2.00 charge per breakfast and children must be enrolled full time to participate.
Do you offer any sibling discounts or financial assistance?
No, we do not offer discounts or financial assistance.
What are the school holidays?
Patti’s Preschool observes eight (9) legal holidays – Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday, Presidents’ Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday following, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. The school is also closed for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. (Tuition is NOT CHARGED for this week.) We will also close the school for two (2) “Teacher Preparation Days” on the Friday before our fall and summer sessions start in order for staff to prepare for new students. In addition, we will be closed the Friday before Easter. Please see our Annual Calendar for actual dates.
Do you offer refunds or make-up days for absenteeism or holidays?
There are no refunds or make-up days if your child is absent for any reason or for holiday closings. You will need to pay tuition to save the space at the preschool. The reason for this policy is because a space is reserved for your child. It cannot be taken by another if your child is not here. Preparation for our students is made whether or not they attend. Please remember you will not be charged for one week during the winter holiday.
What is your address?
