Our theme this month is All About Nature.  Our lesson plans will focus on planting and growing, nature collages, leaf rubbings and nature scavenger hunts.  We will be working in the garden on our playground  as well as doing planting projects in the classroom. The children will also be learning about spring weather and the life cycle of plants and animals.  Each classroom has butterfly larvae  so the children will learn all about metamorphosis.  They will see the caterpillars

Our theme this month is Animals – Zoo, Circus, Jungle, Farm, and Pets!  The children will be learning about the characteristics and habitats of animals.  Some of our projects will include animal masks, puppets, animal collages, and zoo animal cages.  We will also celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday during the first week of March.  We will make green eggs and ham  and Dr. Seuss hats. Our theme this month is Transportation and Community Helpers. The children will be learning about different ways to travel.  Some of their projects will include painting with toy cars, making transportation collages, and matching, sorting, counting   colored cars and trucks .  Community helpers and their jobs will also be discussed this month. We are looking forward to celebrating the contributions  and achievements  of African Americans during Black History Month. February

Our January theme is Health, Safety, and Nutrition.  We will focus on school rules, nutritious foods, and ways to stay healthy.  Lesson plans will include cooking projects, safety sign pictures, and nutritious food collages.  Our staff has also incorporated movement games and activities to keep our students moving each day. Our December theme is Nursery Rhymes and Mother   Goose.  This is an appealing and instructive theme that prepares children for kindergarten . Participating and playing with sounds of language (rhymes/syllables) is an important pre-reading skill.  Watch for “Hey Diddle, Diddle”  and “Jack Be Nimble” projects.  The children will also learn about winter holidays and cultural traditions.
