Patti's Preschool Newsletter, November 2016

Our November theme is All About Families. Our lesson plans will include finger plays, songs, books, and flannel board stories about families. The children will be making family trees, special family books, and family graphs. Thanksgiving is also part of our November theme so watch for some fun Thanksgiving Day projects.

Love 2 Learn Consulting will be at school on November 2 and 3 for speech and occupational therapy assessments. If you filled out one of the permission slips last month, your child will participate and the results will be returned the same day. Please see Amy or Caroline for additional information.

Scholastic book orders are due on Friday morning, November 11. Ordering online is easy using our class code: GW3RF – just ask Amy or Caroline at the front desk. Please make your check payable to Patti’s Preschool. Thanks for ordering!

We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving feast on Monday, November 21. We are asking parents to send a dessert or paper products (plates, napkins) for the feast. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the classrooms.

Celebrating birthdays this month are Alexander, Delani, Madeleine, Betty, Hunter, Shylah, Kennedy, Cate, Grayson, Paul, Eva, Kayla D., and Devin. Our substitute teacher, Sandrae, is also celebrating her birthday this month. Happy birthday everyone!

Our top seller for the Popcorn Fundraiser was Leo Jennings! Way to go, Leo! The other two top sellers were Blake Lehman and Sofia & Valentina Hill. Our fundraiser was very successful. The school made a profit of $1700 this year! We’ll be using the funds to pay for our educational guests. Thank you to everyone who participated!

We will be closed November 24 and 25 for Thanksgiving. Please let Caroline or Amy know if your child will be absent during Thanksgiving week. We would like to know by November 14.

We are grateful for all our super parents who donated items and helped at our Halloween party. You made it fun for everyone!

We were delighted with the wonderful response to our READ FOR THE RECORD campaign to promote early literacy. We’d like to thank our terrific readers – Sharla Beacham, Stephanie Vail, Shauna Lewis, Elizabeth Ugalde, Carol Jonston, Pam Lodge, Carmen Johnson, and Jenny Sullivan. Our volunteers read to 93 children!

We’re excited to announce that there will be a Stella & Dot Holiday Pop Up Shop fundraiser at school on November 17 and 18! Need some holiday gift ideas? There will be jewelry, bags, and accessories available for purchase and Patti’s will receive a portion of all sales which we plan on using to replenish classroom supplies as well as purchase a new mural for the playground. We are very grateful to Pam Lodge (Darian’s mother) for planning and running this exciting fundraiser. Thank you, Pam!

Next month we’re having free vision screenings provided by the Elks Preschool Vision Screening Program. Release forms will be sent home for parents to complete. Please return the forms to the front office if you’d like your child to participate.

We would like to thank Ada Perelman, grandmother of Sadie Gordon, for her generous donation of books, stuffed animals, and a water table. We always appreciate these thoughtful donations.
