Patti's Preschool Newsletter, August 2018

We’re starting off the month of August with Western Day on August 8 with lots of games and playground activities including pony rides. Please have your child wear western clothing to school that day. If your child does not normally attend MWF, they are more than welcome to join in on the fun with a parent present.

Under the Sea will be our theme during the week of August 13. Mad Science will present a science workshop on “Sea, Sand, and Surf.” Preschool is the perfect time to stress the importance of protecting our oceans! We’ll cool off on Hawaiian Day with a visit from Kona Shaved Ice on August 15. Our favorite puppeteer, Franklin Haynes, will present The Princess & The Pirates Marionette show on August 16.

Goofy Week is the last week of August and we will start off the silliness with Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday, August 28. Next on August 29 we’ll have Wacky Wednesday and on Thursday, August 30 we’re having Silly Hat Day (last day of summer camp). It has been a fun-filled summer at Patti’s Preschool!

Dinosaurs will invade our school when we explore the Prehistoric World during the week of August 20. Our students will learn all about paleontology when Sean with Education Through Nature visits our school with his presentation of Dynamic Dinosaurs on Wednesday, August 22.

Celebrating birthdays this month are Charlotte, Andres, Ellison, Hudson H., Nash, Parisa, Sloan, Gavin X., Cash, Shae, Kingston, Ainsley, Elison, Garrett, Evelyn, and Hudson W. Two of our teachers, Monique Dominguez and Tanya Rios are also celebrating. We hope everyone has a very special day!

Thank you to Jenn Spehar for her donation of games, Bob books, and DVD’s for the classrooms to enjoy. We’re loving the books and coloring books that Janna George gave to us. Theresa Comins also donated books that our students are getting much use out of. We appreciate all the thoughtful donations!

We’d like to give a special thank you to the Ceballos Family Band for sharing their musical talent during music appreciation week. Vanessa and Tizoc brought in a guitar and a cajon (Peruvian style box drum) while their son, Sean, showed his classmates how to play the slide whistle and claves!

The last day of our summer session is Thursday, August 30. We will be closed on Friday, August 31 for Teacher Prep Day in order to get ready for our fall session which begins on Tuesday, September 4. Your child may be moving to a new class that day. Class assignments will be posted in front of the school on Monday, August 25.

We’re sincerely grateful for the extremely generous donation of Discount School Supply Items we received from Valary Sanders to share throughout the school! Valary supplied Bio paint, bristle blocks, liquid water color, trucks, paint cups, and hop around steps that our teachers and students are very excited to use. Words cannot thank you enough, Valary!
