Patti's Preschool Newsletter, November 2019
Our November theme is All About Families. Our lesson plans will include finger plays, songs, books, and flannel board stories about families. The children will be making family trees, special family books, and family graphs. Thanksgiving is also part of our November theme so watch for some fun Thanksgiving Day projects.
Scholastic book orders are due on Friday morning, November 8. Ordering online is easy using our class code: GW3RF – just ask Allison or Alexa at the front desk. Please make your check payable to Patti’s Preschool. We receive free books for the school with every parent order placed. Thanks for ordering!
We are looking forward to our Thanksgiving feast on Wednesday, November 27th. We are asking parents to send a dessert or paper products (plates, napkins) for the feast. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the classrooms.
Celebrating birthdays this month are Brooke, Grace, Vivienne, Anushka, Georgia, Avery, Duke, Jade, and Loren! We hope everyone has a fun time celebrating!
Our wonderful Room 1 aide, Ms. Darcy, is celebrating her 4 year anniversary at Patti’s Preschool. Please let Ms. Darcy know you appreciate her hard work!
The top seller for the Popcorn Fundraiser was the Tyler Tochioka! Way to go, boys! The other two top sellers were Noah D’Ambrosio and Jamison Peto. Our fundraiser was very successful and we’ll be using the funds to pay for our CPR renewal class taking place at the beginning of January. Thank you to everyone who participated. You are appreciated!
We will be closed November 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving. Please let Alexa or Allison know if your child will be absent during Thanksgiving week. We would like to know by November 15th.
We are grateful for all our super parents who donated items and helped at our Halloween party. You made it fun for everyone!
We’re so excited to have our local dance company, Ballet Etudes, perform “The Nutcracker” at school on November 14th. We always enjoy the dancers and our students love the costumes! It is a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit! Ballet Etudes is performing “The Nutcracker” at Huntington Beach High School on December 7, 8, 14, and 15. You can purchase tickets here or call (714) 902-9423. This is an event our families look forward to each year!
Next month we’re having free vision screenings provided by the Elks Preschool Vision Screening Program. Release forms will be sent home for parents to complete. Please return the forms to the front office if you’d like your child to participate.
We are really enjoying all of the toys and games donated by the Zeller family. We were able to share their generous donation among all the classrooms. We would also like to thank the Tahsequah family for their continuous donation of paper products, including large rolls of butch paper. Our students love to work together creating art. We appreciate our wonderful families!

If you enjoy listening to podcasts as much as I do, I encourage you to check out “Quiet” hosted by Susan Cain, author of the best-selling book, “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking.” In the podcast series, Cain focuses on parenting introverts. It addresses the special challenges (and joys) that can come with introvert children, such as parenting an introvert when you’re an extrovert, how to support and encourage introverted children in school and sports, whether you have a quietly gifted child, and more. Bite-size (20-30 minute) segments make this an easy one to catch up on while running errands in the car.
