Patti's Preschool Newsletter, April 2023

Our theme this month is All About Nature. Our lesson plans will focus on bird watching, nature scavenger hunts, nature collages, and leaf rubbings. The children will also be learning about spring weather and the life cycle of plants and animals. Each classroom has butterfly larvae so the children will learn all about metamorphosis. They will see the caterpillars transition into chrysalides and emerge as butterflies!

Book orders are due on Thursday. April 6th. Go to www.scholastic.com to place your order. Our class code is GW3RF. Please see the front office for more information!

Celebrating birthdays this month are Lila, Jocelynn, Smith, Lucio, Indio, Lily, Cora, Everly, Ellis, and Perry. Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Lauren, and Ms. Leicy are also celebrating birthdays this month. We hope everyone has a memorable day!

Ms. Sandy is celebrating her 5 year anniversary at Patti’s! We are thrilled to have her friendly spirit in the front office to greet us each day. Ms. Sandy and Ms. Megan make a great team! Our Room 1 teacher, Ms. Amber, is celebrating her 1-year anniversary at school. She is working hard on potty-training her students! Happy anniversary, Ms. Sandy and Ms. Amber!

School will be closed on Friday, April 7, to give staff extra time to spend with family. If your child is taking additional time off for spring break, please alert the front office. Thank you!

We will wrap up parent/teacher conferences this month. Evaluations will be sent home prior to conference dates. Sign-up sheets will be posted on top of cubbies so you may sign-up for a convenient time for a phone conference.

Thank you to the many parents who donated items for our St. Patrick’s Day party at school. It was a festive day for all!

We are looking forward to celebrating Earth Day at school this month. We will be teaching our students about recycling, taking care of our planet, preventing ocean pollution, and more! Some of the classes will be setting up recycling centers in their classrooms and others will make their own recycled building blocks. When your child comes home singing a new Earth Day song, you will be inspired to join the next Coastal Cleanup event!

We can’t wait for the Playful Puppy Program on Wednesday, April 26, from 10:00 to 12:00. A little pen will be set up on the playground where the children get to sit down to hold and pet Maltese, Mini Doxies, Westies, and Pugs. These purebred puppies are sweet, playful, and perfectly harmless!

Our Spring Fundraiser will start on Monday, April 3rd. We will be selling Gourmet Popcorn again this year from Double Good. An order form will be sent home with your child and the orders will be due by Friday, April 14th. You may pay by cash, credit card or check payable to Patti’s Preschool. This year we will be using the funds to buy new climbing equipment for our playground. And if there’s enough money left over, we will purchase a new caterpillar play tunnel for more playground fun. Thanks to all participants!

We are grateful to Lauren and Christian Pasca for donating dolls to Room 3. We appreciated the baking supplies that Stacy and Joe Wilton provided for cooking projects. The oranges were a delicious treat from Jayde and Edwin Flores. The children love all the “Frozen” toys that Meghan and Jesse Bolling brought to school. We appreciated the flash lights and watering cans from Laura and Weston Zellmer. Thank you to our generous parents!
