Patti's Preschool Newsletter, August 2026

We’re starting off the month with Fantasy and Fairy Tale Week. Our classrooms will be filled with magical stories and imaginative adventures as students explore castles, dragons, princes, princesses, and more. To make the week extra enchanting, Princess Rapunzel will visit on August 5 for a special meet-and-greet, sing-alongs, and stories!

Saddle up, next we’ll have Western Week! This theme is something we look forward to all year! Pony rides will take place on the playground on August 11 followed by exciting western games and activities on August 12. We encourage your child to wear western attire those days. Yee Haw!

Under the Sea and Ocean Adventures will be our theme during the week of August 17. Preschool is the perfect time to stress the importance of conserving our ocean life! On August 21, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will be bringing some fascinating live sea creatures in touch tanks. We can’t wait to see the puppet show about the “Adventures of C. Weed the Snail” and explore the assortment of hands-on sea life specimens.

We are so excited for Hawaiian Day on Thursday, August 27. We’ll be filled with the Aloha spirit when the Kona Shaved Ice truck parks in front of our school. Be sure to send your child wearing tropical clothing that day!

Goofy Week is the last week of summer and we will start off the fun with Superhero Day on August 31.  Next on September 1 we’ll have Silly Hat Day and on September 2 will be a Crazy Hair Day. Lastly, on Thursday, September 3rd we’re having Pajama Day (last day of summer camp). It has been a fun-filled summer at Patti’s Preschool

Celebrating birthdays this month are Betty C., Joie, Evelyn, Lincoln, Logan, Charlee, Jack, Brock, Parker, Langley, Jackson, and Emery. Our teacher, Ms. Allison, is also celebrating her birthday this month! We hope everyone has a very special day! Ms. Betty is celebrating her 3-year work anniversary this month! Her bubbly personality is perfect in our Seahorse class! Ms. Celeste is also celebrating her work anniversary this month! She has been dedicated to helping us out in the kitchen and around the playground for the past 17 years!

Many thanks to Liz and Sean Kennedy for their donation of colorful craft paper and an ice cream play set! We also appreciate the donation of extra clothes from Amy and John Guzman and the puzzles from Amanda and Jacob Fraser. We’ll make great use of these!

The last day of our summer session is Thursday, September 3.  We will be closed on Friday, September 4 for Teacher Prep Day in order to get ready for our fall session which begins on Tuesday, September 8.  Your child may be moving to a new class that day.      (We will be closed on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day). Class assignments will be posted in front of the school on Monday, August 31.
