Patti's Preschool Newsletter, December 2021

Our December theme is Nursery Rhymes and Mother Goose. This is an appealing and instructive theme that prepares children for kindergarten. Participating and playing with sounds of language (rhymes/syllables) is an important pre-reading skill. The children will also learn about winter holidays and cultural traditions during the month of December. Your child’s teacher would be interested in learning how your family celebrates at home so your traditions can be shared at school!

Scholastic book orders are due on Friday morning, December 3. You can easily order online using our class code GW3RF. Please be aware that Scholastic has notified us about possible shipping delays due to the pandemic. Please order as early as you can!

Celebrating birthdays this month are Leah, Elizabeth, Rome, Jordan, Thomas, Layla F., and Abby. Three of our staff members – Ms. Katherine, Ms. Susan, and Ms. Annie are also celebrating. It will be a fun birthday month!

Ms. Catherine G. is celebrating her 5-year anniversary of teaching at Patti’s Preschool! Ms. Megan will celebrate her 2-year anniversary on January 2. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication!

We appreciate the thoughtful, generous parents who brought desserts and paper products for our Thanksgiving feast. The children enjoyed their special treats!

The Elks Preschool Vision Screening Program will be here at school on December 1 and 2 to perform free vision screenings. An email was sent out with details of the screening, as well as general information. If you do NOT want your child to participate, please alert the front office. You will be contacted if a follow-up appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist is recommended.

Please alert the front office if your child will be absent for an extended period of time during the month of December. Thank you!

Our staff’s CPR/First Aid training will be held on Friday afternoon, December 10, in order for our entire staff to participate. We will be closing the school for the afternoon and are asking all parents to pick up their child by 12:30pm (after lunch). Thank you, parents, for accommodating us!

We’re looking forward to holiday caroling on Wednesday, December 15, performed by our Stepping Up class. This will definitely put us in the holiday spirit!

We will have pajama days on December 22 and 23. Children may wear their pajamas to school on those days. There are rumors going around that the children will get to drink some hot chocolate while wearing their jammies!

We are grateful to Roxane Bennett for donating newspaper and egg cartons. Thank you, Roxane, for always thinking of us! Many thanks to Artie Moreno who drew a beautiful turkey along with feathers for Ms. Cathy’s class. Ms. Cathy will use it for a special gratitude project with her class. Thanks for sharing your artistic talent, Artie! The stickers from Cristina and Patrick Weinmann will come in handy for art projects. Ashley and Anthony Mercaado donated gently used books and toys that were shared among all the classrooms. Thank you, parents!

Please remember that school will be closed for winter break from December 24 through January 2. (Tuition will not be charged for the week of December 27.) Our winter session will start on Monday, January 3, 2022. Happy holidays from all of us at Patti’s Preschool.
