Patti's Preschool Newsletter, December 2022
Our December theme is Nursery Rhymes and Mother Goose. This is an appealing and instructive theme that prepares children for kindergarten. Participating and playing with sounds of language (rhymes/syllables) is an important pre-reading skill. The children will also learn about winter holidays and cultural traditions during the month of December. Your child’s teacher would be interested in learning how your family celebrates at home so your traditions can be shared at school!
Scholastic book orders are due on Friday, December 2. You can easily order online using our class code GW3RF. Please be aware that Scholastic has notified us about possible shipping delays during this time of year. Please order as early as you can!
Celebrating birthdays this month are Oliver, Hudson A., Charlotte C., Elizabeth F., Noelle, Thomas, Murphy, Abby, and Jack. Three of our staff members, Ms. Katherine, Ms. Susan, and Ms. Annie, are also celebrating. It will be a fun birthday month!
Ms. Catherine G. is celebrating her 6-year anniversary teaching at Patti’s Preschool! Ms. Megan will celebrate her 3-year anniversary on January 2. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication!
We appreciate the thoughtful, generous parents who brought desserts and paper products for our Thanksgiving feast. The children enjoyed their special treats!
The Elks Preschool Vision Screening Program will be at school on December 1 and 2 to perform free vision screenings. An email was sent out with details about the screening along with general information. If you do NOT want your child to participate, please alert the front office. You will be contacted if a follow-up appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist is recommended.
Please alert the front office if your child will be absent for an extended period of time during the month of December. Thank you!
We will have pajama days on December 21 and 22. Children may wear their pajamas to school on those days. There are rumors going around that the children will get to drink some hot chocolate while wearing their jammies!
Our Stepping Up class will be hosting a holiday program for the Room 3 parents on Thursday, December 8, at 1:00pm. Parents are invited to stay after the performance to help with a craft and have a special treat. We hope you can join us!
Many thanks to Catherine and Sam Fullerton for donating art supplies and colored paper for special projects. We like having extra supplies on hand!
Remember to pick up a flier to purchase tickets to The Nutcracker! Ballet Etudes will be performing at the Huntington Beach High School Theater December 3, 4, and 11. Much to the delight of our students and staff, their dance company came to perform just for us. The children loved the fancy costumes and spectacular dancing. They couldn’t wait to try some of the dance moves on the playground!
Please remember that school will be closed for winter break from December 26 through January 2, 2023. (Tuition will not be charged for the week of December 26.) Our winter session will start on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Happy holidays from all of us at Patti’s Preschool!
