Patti's Preschool Newsletter, December 2023

Our December theme is Nursery Rhymes and Mother Goose. This is an appealing and instructive theme that prepares children for kindergarten. Participating and playing with sounds of language (rhymes/syllables) is an important pre-reading skill. Watch for “Hey Diddle, Diddle” and “Jack Be Nimble” projects. The children will also learn about winter holidays and cultural traditions.

Scholastic book orders are due on Friday morning, December 8. You can easily order online using our class code GW3RF!

Celebrating birthdays this month are Oliver N., Madison R., Elizabeth, Thomas, Presley, Noelle, Murphy, and Jack E. Four of our staff members – Patti, Annie, Asha, and Susan are also celebrating. It will be a fun birthday month!

Ms. Catherine is celebrating her 7-year anniversary of teaching at Patti’s Preschool! We are grateful for her hard work and dedication! Her positive energy brightens up the school!

We appreciate the thoughtful, generous parents who brought desserts and paper products for our Thanksgiving feast. The children enjoyed their special treats!

The Elks Preschool Vision Screening Program will be here at school on December 4 and 5 to perform free vision screenings. An email was sent out with details of the screening, as well as general information. If you do NOT want your child to participate, please alert the front office.

Please remember to tell Sandy, Megan, or your child’s teacher if your child will be absent for an extended period of time during the month of December or January. Thank you!

Remember to pick up a flyer to purchase tickets to The Nutcracker! Ballet Etudes will be performing at the Huntington Beach High School theater December 2, 3, and 10. We were honored to have their dance company perform just for us! The children loved the fancy costumes and spectacular dancing. Please see the front office if you are interested in enrolling your child at the Huntington Academy of Dance to receive a new student gift certificate! They have gifted us a total of four scholarships to give out so please reserve quickly!

Many thanks to Sheva and Brandon Fiege for funding our upcoming Christmas Magic Show to be performed by Brettso the Great! The show will take place on Monday, December 18th. What a magical way to celebrate the holidays! We know there will be tons of laughter coming from the classroom!

We would also like to thank the Ellis-Miller family for their donation of newspaper and the Zellmer family for their donation of scratch paper and tissues. We can always use the paper for various projects in the classrooms and are so appreciative of our thoughtful families! Thank you as well to the Rutkowski family for their donation of miscellaneous toys and the Ozhuthual family for their donation of clothing. It is always helpful to have those items on hand!

We will have pajama days on December 21 and 22. Children may wear their pajamas to school on those days. School will be closed for winter break from December 25 through January 1. (Tuition is not charged for the week of December 25). Our winter session will start on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Happy holidays from all of us at Patti’s Preschool!
