Patti's Preschool Newsletter, February 2021
Our theme this month is Transportation and Community Helpers. The children will be learning about different ways to travel. Some of their projects will include painting with toy cars, making transportation collages, and matching/sorting/counting colored cars and trucks. Community helpers and their jobs will also be discussed this month.
Our Stepping Up class along with Rooms 3, 5, and 6 will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday, February 5. The teachers have planned many fun activities such as decorating hats with 100 dots, making towers with 100 cups, doing 100 exercises, and staying quiet for 100 seconds!
Scholastic Book orders are due Friday morning, February 14th. Go to www.scholastic.com to place your order. Our class code is GW3RF. Please see the front office for more information!
Parent/teacher phone conferences for Ms. Tanya’s class will be held during the week of February 8. Phone conferences for Ms. Cathy’s class are scheduled for the week of February 22. Conferences for all classes will continue through the end of April. Our annual calendar (on our website) lists all of the conference dates. We will email a conference schedule so you can sign up for a convenient time. Please respond to the front office by email or phone. A written evaluation will be sent home prior to your conference. Conferences are not mandatory.
The children will be exchanging valentines on Thursday and Friday, February 11 and 12. Please send valentines for your child’s classmates (not the entire school). We will have a special snack each day. Wish lists for party items will be emailed or posted on ClassDojo. We appreciate any donations!
Celebrating birthdays this month are Teagan, Franklin, Hudson S., Colette, Piper, Devan, and Luka. One of our teachers, Ms. Sandy, is also celebrating this month! Happy birthday to all!
Our Stepping Up class is having loads of fun with the new train table that Sherry Beck and Tim D’Zmura donated. Many thanks to Brina Romero-Montano for the clever light-up mouse project (with batteries to light the eyes!) for Room 3. This was perfect for a STEM activity! The puzzles that Tracy and Chris Byrne gave us are a great way to encourage fine motor skills. Krista and Steve Richardson brought children’s books which we’re using with our youngest students. We are grateful to Stacy and Joe Wilton for providing construction hats, canvas bags, and pencils. The PJ Masks toys from Ruth and AJ Benton are a big hit! Thank you to our generous parents.
Please remember to turn in your summer enrollment form! Once we have received all the forms we will be able to start placing our students in classes. Our summer camp is entertaining because of the variety of educational guests who come to school. We are hoping that the pandemic will have subsided so we can return to a normal routine. Wishful thinking? We can’t wait for Thor’s Reptile Family, pony rides, and Mad Science workshops among others! Let’s hope it can happen.
We are looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year during the week of February 8th. The children will be making Chinese lanterns, practice writing Chinese calligraphy, and painting with different shades of red. We are excited to celebrate the Year of the Ox!
School is closed Monday, February 15th in celebration of Presidents’ Day. We hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend.
