Patti's Preschool Newsletter, February 2024
Our theme this month is Transportation and Community Helpers. The children will be learning about different ways to travel. Some of their projects will include painting with toy cars, making transportation collages, and matching/sorting/counting colored cars and trucks. Community helpers and their jobs will also be discussed this month. We are looking forward to celebrating the contributions and achievements of African Americans during Black History Month. We will also celebrate Lunar New Year and learn about the Year of the Dragon! February will be a busy month!
Our Stepping Up class along with Rooms 5 and 6 will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday, February 2nd. The teachers have planned many fun activities such as decorating with 100 stickers, counting 100 food items to make a special snack, completing 100 exercises, and staying quiet for 100 seconds!
Book orders are due Friday morning, February 9th. You may order books online through the Scholastic website! Our class code is GW3RF. Please see the front office for more information!
Parent/teacher conferences for Ms. Jennifer’s class will be held during the week of February 5. Conferences for Ms. Pam, Ms. Susan, and Ms. Catherine will follow. Conferences for all remaining classes will continue through the second week of April. Our annual calendar lists all of the conference dates. Conferences are not mandatory. If you are interested in meeting with your child’s teacher over the phone, please remember to sign up in the classroom or on ClassDojo for a convenient time.
A pediatric dentist will be visiting our school on Wednesday, February 7 to give presentations to the students regarding proper dental care. Your child will go home excited to practice their new skills!
The children will be exchanging valentines on Wednesday, February 14. Please send valentines for your child’s classmates (not the entire school). Please check with your child’s teacher regarding special activities planned for that day. Wish lists for party items will be posted on ClassDojo. We appreciate any donations!
Celebrating birthdays this month are John, Gianna, Bree, Brooke, Kyla, Kerry, Olive, Mila, and Aris. Our assistant director, Ms. Sandy, is also celebrating this month! Happy birthday to all!
Our Stepping Up teacher, Jennifer is celebrating her 2-year anniversary this month. We appreciate all of her hard work and dedication!
We are extremely grateful for the warm bagels provided by the Kunze family! Staff was delighted to return from the holidays to a delicious breakfast. Our tummies were happy!
We would like to thank the Zellmer family for their continued donation of scratch paper and the Bolling family for their donation of various art supplies. School supplies are always helpful! We would also love to thank the Kravets family for their play food donation to Room 6. The students have enjoyed cooking some new meals in the housekeeping area!
Kindergarten registration for the Huntington Beach City School District will be on Thursday, February 15, at 6:00pm at your home school. To find your home school, go to the HBCSD website for more information.
School is closed Monday, February 19th, in celebration of Presidents’ Day. We hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend.
