Our theme this month is Animals –Zoo, Circus, Jungle, Farm, and Pets. The children will be learning about the characteristics and habitats of animals. Some of our projects will include animal masks, puppets, animal collages, and zoo animal cages. We will also celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday during the first week of March. We will make green eggs and ham and Dr. Seuss hats. Our favorite Dr. Seuss books will be read throughout the week.

Book orders are due Friday morning, March 11. You may order books online. Please see the front office to find out the procedure.

Parent/teacher phone conferences will continue through the month of April. Evaluations will be sent home prior to conference dates. Conferences are not mandatory but you may sign up if you would like to talk to your child’s teacher. Sign-up sheets will be posted on the classroom door. Please sign up for a convenient day/time and list your phone number.

Ms. Rowana is celebrating her 8-year anniversary at Patti’s! Ms. Rowana’s dedication to teaching is evident every day. Her kind and thoughtful manner is a plus in the classroom. Congratulations, Rowana!

Celebrating birthdays this month are, Aryana, Eleanor, Charlotte, Kaia, Eli, Colin, Duke, Logan D., Quinn A., Roman, and Enzo S. Ms. Cathy is also celebrating her birthday this month. We hope everyone enjoys their special day!

We’re having a petting zoo at school on Tuesday, March 22, from 10:00-12:00. Happy Hooves will set up a little pen on our playground and the children will have an opportunity to interact with a mini sheep, a mini pig, pygmy goats, rabbits, hens, and a mini rooster. All the animals are very friendly and used to being around kids.

We’d like to thank Jeanette and T.J. Dawson for donating a bike and helmet for playground fun. Many thanks to Stacy Wilton for giving us pull-ups to use in Room 1. Thank you to Megan and Michael Kravets for their book donation. We are grateful to Carrie and Nick Lines for treating children and staff to delicious sweet buns and mandarin oranges. They made celebrating the Year of the Tiger loads of fun! Ruth Benton gave us a bag of gently used children’s clothing - always needed. The craft supplies from Nicole Barber and Alex Ramirez were perfect for art projects. We appreciate Gina Ozhuthual for providing the generous discount for her creative product line, Bohemian Mama.

March is National Nutrition Month! The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics urges everyone to start small – one forkful at a time and "personalize your plate.” Food, nutrition and eating skills are among the most important things you can share with children — food to fuel busy, successful lives, nutrition to nourish strong bodies and smart brains, and eating skills to enjoy the social aspect of meals with family and friends. Look for more helpful information at eatright.org to start encouraging healthy eating habits!

STAFF UPDATE

We would like to welcome Jennifer Marroquin to our staff! Ms. Jennifer is a new addition to our Stepping Up class (Room 3) and will be teaching with Ms. Katherine. We are delighted to have Ms. Jennifer on our team and are looking forward to Ms. Sandy joining Ms. Megan in the front office.

We are expecting Ms. Cathy to return to school April 11. She is currently caring for a family member who was recently released from the hospital. Ms. Annie is taking a medical leave and she will return at the beginning of April. We wish Ms. Cathy and Ms. Annie all the best and can’t wait to have them back at school.
