Patti's Preschool Newsletter, May 2023

This month our theme is “Children’s Literature.” We will be reading a variety of books and telling flannel board stories each day. To expand on our literature, we will be centering activities around the theme of each book or story. This will provide many new experiences in language development, fine motor skills, math and science, music and dramatic play. We will also be working on special projects for Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.

Celebrating birthdays this month are Rhea, Ruby, Pavel, Brayden, Sloane, Madelyn, KJ, Helena, Meadow, Ellie, Carter, Rex W., Matilde, Adilyn, Liliana, Lucia, and Willow. We hope everyone has a wonderful birthday! Our assistant, Ms. Megan, is also celebrating her birthday this month. Help us wish her a very happy birthday!

The week of May 8 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our staff is committed to providing the best child care and we strive to prepare each child for a successful school career. Ms. Sandy sent an email to our families with several suggestions to show your child’s teacher how much she is appreciated. We hope you find the ideas helpful!

Book orders are due Friday, May 12. Go to www.scholastic.com to place your order. Our class code is GW3RF. Please see the front office for more information! We receive points for classroom supplies with every order!

Grad photos will be taken on May 8 and 9. Our pre-k graduates from Room 3, 6, and older students from Room 5 will have professional photos taken and parents will receive a link to view and purchase pics. An email was sent out with more information. We are looking forward to celebrating year-end activities in June.

Mother’s Day is May 14!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing mothers at our school!

Our pre-k teacher, Susan Drake, will be celebrating her 7-year anniversary this month. Ms. Susan takes pride in her career as an educator. We feel lucky to have her at Patti’s Preschool!

Our Spring Fundraiser was a big success! We’d like to thank everyone who participated. Our top fundraisers were Alexis and Joshua Lopez, Bri and Robby Haight, and Naoko Shiomi and Joy Mondares. We are excited about adding a new climbing structure to our playground and know it will provide hours of fun for our students!

We were able to book our favorite storyteller, Miss Mary-Pat, thanks to the generosity of Kyla and Dennis Kalinin who offered to sponsor her visit to school. Miss Mary-Pat is a former children’s storyteller at the HB Public Library and she makes her stories come alive with fascinating books, puppets, finger plays, and felt characters. She will be at school on Wednesday, May 17th and we can’t wait! Many thanks to Kyla and Dennis for providing this exciting event!

Upcoming Holiday in June!

Please mark your calendar that school will be closed on Monday, June 19, to celebrate Juneteenth National Independence Day. Summer rosters will be posted in front of the school on Monday, June 12.
