Patti's Preschool Newsletter, October 2026
Our October themes are Our Five Senses and Halloween. The children will be learning about sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch. They will be making texture collages, tasting different foods, going on observation walks, and learning new songs about listening. We will also be planning lots of fun Halloween projects like carving pumpkins and making pumpkin seed pictures.
Scholastic book orders are due Friday morning, October 9. You may order online using our class code GW3RF. Your book purchases help us add free books to our school library!
Celebrating birthdays this month are Sonali, Camila, Alexander W, Edison, and Luka. We hope everyone enjoys their special day!
Patti’s Preschool will participate in The Great California ShakeOut on October 15 at 10:15am. We are joining millions of Californians in the state’s largest earthquake drill ever! We are practicing “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” with all our students before the big day.
Thank you for helping us celebrate Patti’s Preschool’s 46th anniversary! This special milestone is a wonderful reminder of the many years of learning, growth, and cherished memories that make our school community so special. We hope our students enjoyed their special pizza lunch, and our staff enjoyed theirs as well! We are so grateful for the continued support of our families and for everyone who has been a part of Patti’s Preschool over the years. Here’s to many more wonderful years together!
Our annual Halloween party will be on Friday, October 30, from 9:00-11:30AM. We will have many fun activities on the playground and the children may wear costumes. If your child doesn’t normally attend school on Friday, please feel free to bring him/her. We will need you to stay during the party so we can comply with the state mandated teacher-children ratio. Since this is a school-wide event, we are unable to allow siblings or other relatives. If you’d like to send something for your child’s classmates, we recommend a goody bag with stickers, small toys, pencils or crayons, and wrapped candy (please avoid homemade goods and make sure treats do not contain nuts.) We can also use some items for our party and would appreciate any donations. Wish lists will be posted on ClassDojo. Hope to see you there!
Halloween T-Shirts Are Here! Get your little one ready for Halloween with our festive Patti’s Preschool T-shirts, available for $20 each at the front desk. Our teachers will have Halloween shirts too, so your child may even get to match with their teacher! Students can wear their Halloween shirts on our Spirit Days, which you can find on the October calendar. Stop by the front desk to grab yours and get ready to celebrate Halloween in style!
Thank you, Juliana and Remington Bray for donating scratch paper! Scratch paper comes in handy for creative free drawing, practicing writing, and all kinds of classroom activities. If you’re ever cleaning out your home and come across new or gently used art supplies, toys, books, or other items that you think our classrooms could enjoy, please keep us in mind! Donations are always appreciated and put to great use by our students and teachers. Thank you for helping us keep our classrooms stocked with fun and engaging materials!
