Patti's Preschool Newsletter, September 2020
Our theme this month is Getting Acquainted and Self Esteem. We will be talking about our families, our friends and our school. Sharing, cooperation, and expressing our feelings will also be emphasized this month. We will review school rules to give everyone a fresh start this month. September is a great month for making new friends!
Newsflash! Our modified school hours are changing on Tuesday, September 8. They will be 7:00am to 5:30pm.
Our Mandarin teacher, Ms. Betty, is offering private Mandarin Chinese lessons. Research shows that learning a new language boosts problem solving, critical thinking, and listening skills. Ms. Betty makes learning fun by using songs, puppets, felt stories, and books. Several of our students have participated in her class and the response from parents has only been positive. Your child will be bringing home her flyer with more info!
We have School Spirit Days every week (check our calendar for dates). Your child may wear a preschool t-shirt that day. If you’d like to purchase a shirt, they are available at the front desk for $10.00 each.
Four of our staff members are celebrating their anniversaries this month! Congratulations and thank you to Annie De’Nicola (31 years), Pam Taylor (28 years), Daisy Ramos (3 years), and Tanya Rios (3 years). Please remember to thank and congratulate our dedicated staff!
Celebrating birthdays this month are Goldie, Noah, River, Wolfgang, Marrison, Hudson, Jenson, Jaxson, and Aiden. Four staff members, Pam, Sue, Rowana, and Amber are also having birthdays in September. Happy birthday to all of our friends! If you would like to send a treat for your child’s birthday, please take a look at the attached list of suggestions. We love parties!
Ms. Patti is excited to celebrate the 40th year anniversary of the preschool which she opened on September 29, 1980. To celebrate this special occasion, we will be celebrating all week beginning September 28, 2020. A pizza lunch will be provided on September 29 and 30, compliments of the preschool. We have some other surprise events planned and look forward to celebrating with our students.
We want to thank Brina Romero-Montano for the bag of stamps. The masks from Jodi Benavidez were such a thoughtful donation! Our teachers were delighted to have some extras. We are grateful to the Twogoods and Richardsons for the delicious breakfast including lots of coffee! It was enjoyed by all! Ms. Pam’s class is looking forward to playing a card game called “Smarty Pants” that Michelle and Benjamin Grubb brought for her class. .The Dino Egg Excavating kit from Jennifer and Robert Richardson arrived just in time for our dinosaur week. Ms. Tanya’s class loved it!
We are excited to welcome our new Stepping Up teacher, Amber Rowe. She has taught preschool for several years and has also been a preschool director. Amber received her bachelor’s degree in Child Development (with an emphasis in Elementary Education) from Humboldt State University. Her background and experience make her well-suited for the position. Ms. Amber is looking forward to working alongside Ms. Sandy in Room 6!
